Troop 824
Pat Brenden:
Pat's scouting career began in 1965 in Pack 295 where he was a Cub Scout and Webelo. He earned his Arrow of Light and moved on to Boy Scout Troop 295, based in Inglewood's Centinela Park. Pat moved through the ranks of scouting and was working on his Life badge when, in 1974, the Brenden family relocated to El Segundo where Pat, at the vulnerable age of 15, was momentarily distracted from Boy Scouts. Fortunately, a short time later, he returned to the Scouting movement as an Explorer Scout where he continued to pursue his love of all things high adventure. He recounts his trip to Philmont during this period as one of his most memorable scouting experiences.
Pat's father, Chuck, who served as ASM in their Inglewood troop (Troop 295), devoted himself to running a very active hiking & backpacking program. Pat's love of the backcountry stems from this period in his life and he has passed down his passion for the trail to his son Trevor who started backpacking at the tender young age of seven. At age nine, Trevor did his first long-term backpack trip, hiking for five days from Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite Valley by way of Half Dome. This particular trip holds great sentimental value for Pat because it was a family reunion of 3 generations of Brendens including Chuck (Pat's Dad) as well as Pat's brother, Bill, and nephew, Kevin. It was a tough hike for Chuck who was 82 at the time and although he remains remarkably healthy today at age 88, the Yosemite trek marked Chuck's final backcountry outing and Trevor's first long-term outing.
Pat served as an ASM for the World Jamboree in England in 2007, serving under Scoutmaster Rusty Carter and ASM Carl Fabrizio.

Jamboree will be the time of your life.
